NZ Ministry of Civil Defence chooses CONTACT for emergency alerts

New Zealand’s Department of Internal Affairs has selected Datasquirt’s multi-channel communication software CONTACT to handle the emergency messaging requirements for the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

Installed in December 2007, CONTACT gives the Ministry of Civil Defence the ability to send outbound emergency alerts via email, SMS/text messaging, fax and pager from one centralised application – improving the speed and management of its previous approach, which required different systems to send each type of communication.

CONTACT also automatically handles inbound responses providing the Ministry of Civil Defence with an easy method to track when messages have been received, acknowledged and actioned. A full reporting history for each communication channel is also maintained.
